| Live music is an amazing thing, you
never know what is gonna happen. After more then ten years of playing
live music I have instituted a formula that seems successful for
all of my live music scenarios. For me its not just playing music
its full on entertainment. You need quiet background music for a
dining room full of families eating? No problem!! Or how about loud
rocking, with grooves to keep the ladies dancing? Also not a problem.
My theory is that if people see that you, as a musician are enjoying
yourself, even having as much, or more fun then they are having,
that in itself is entertainment. How do I do that you might ask?
First I never have expectations as far as the venue or circumstances
are concerned. 5 or 500 people makes no difference. I will play
and entertain just the same. Next would be reading the audience,
and then communicating with them not only through the power of music
but also I have a knack for joking and personalizing my show, with
that particular audience. Grandparents or retires, families with
kids, college students, bikers, skiers, surfers, drinkers, weddings,
festivals, special events, opening for headlining bands, parks,
beaches, bus stops, street corners, holidays, birthdays, or just
plain ol" jamming wherever with whomever, I always have fun,
and so dose everybody else.
What A Masceo show consists of
When playing a show I only give myself a few rules to abide by.
I will always play old material, songs I have collected along
the years, my newest materiel, and I always improvise as some
point. ( not necessarily in that order) I never sing or play the
material the same. Tempos change, scats, words and melodies all
take on different musical forms. In keeping it interesting for
myself, spontaneity is the key. I rarely write out a set list,
and when I do, I never stick to it. And in following these rules
I never feel as if I am just going through the motions. And observers
of more then 1 Masceo show can in turn be confident they will
never hear the same schtick. (unless of course they want to) I
take what I do seriously, but I also think everything is funny,
therefore I never strive for perfection, and if someone says I'm
to loud I always turn if down with a smile and a joke. I am always
early, (I like to eat) and if all in attendance are having fun,
I will always play late.
Songs
Although I consider myself an original singer song writer. I know
100"s of covers. In some instances I understand the importance
of playing covers, and have performed many shows the consisted
strictly of cover songs. In fact my favorite shows have started
out as cover shows, and ended with people shouting for me to play
originals. I guess the bottom line is I don"t really care
one way or the other performance wise, just as long as everybody
buys a CD. :)
Below I have provided a list of artists of which I know 1 or
more of their songs. I don't want to get to specific as far as
titles of songs, only because I do like the element of some surprise.
However I will quickly contradict myself by also providing a list
of all of my performed original song titles. Both of these lists
are added to on a regular basis and will be kept up to date.
